Blaster Master Zero Coming to Nintendo Switch & Nintendo 3DS March 9, 2017

Blaster Master Zero logo

Blaster Master Zero makes a surprise debut on the Nintendo Switch!

During today’s Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase, we revealed for the first time that Blaster Master Zero is coming to both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS on March 9, 2017 in North America and Europe! This is our first release as an official development partner for the Nintendo Switch, and needless to say, we couldn’t be any more excited about it!

The Switch version differs a bit from the 3DS version in that it has features that take advantage of the Switch hardware, such as HD Rumble compatibility and a brand new co-op Multiplayer mode where 2 players can play using the Joy-Con controllers!

Blaster Master Zero - Main Visual

The Blaster Master series makes its long-awaited return with loads of new and improved mutant blasting action on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS!

After acquiring the license to the legendary NES classic Blaster Master from Sunsoft, Inti Creates set out to create a new game that both pays homage to the original and takes the gameplay to the next level with numerous new and improved gameplay features added.

The graphics for the game use the original Blaster Master at a starting point to create pixel art that both appeals to a modern audience and harkens back to the glory days of the NES.
With new bosses to fight, new areas to explore, and a host of new features and upgrades, Blaster Master Zero is a fresh new blasting experience for newcomers and series veterans alike!

Blaster Master Zero starts the story over again from “zero”!

One day, a young man named Jason Frudnick, known for being a genius in the field of robotic engineering, discovered a strange creature that he had never seen before. No records of this mysterious creature could be found, so Jason gave it the name “Fred” and took it to his lab to begin closely observing it.

Shortly after that, an accident occurred in the lab and Fred managed to escape. Fred jumped into a hole that seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Jason followed, and before he knew it, he found himself in a cave where the battle vehicle “SOPHIA III” awaited him.

With his curiosity in this incredibly high tech vehicle piqued, Jason hopped abroad SOPHIA III and began his adventure in the vast subterranean world in search of Fred.

Mutant scum never learn! Blaster Master is back!

As promised, the anime will be available in its original Japanese with English subtitles AND English dub as well, so without further ado, also me to introduce you to the English cast of the Gunvolt anime in our new trailer! Enjoy!

Gal*Gun Double Peace Sells Over 100,000 Copies Worldwide

GGDP 100000

Gal*Gunners around the world, I want to thank you from the bottom of my silly heart for helping Gal*Gun Double Peace clear 100,000 units sold worldwide! When Double Peace first came out in Japan back in 2015, I can assure you that there wasn’t single person here who thought a Gal*Gun would ever even come close to 6-digit sales numbers…and yet, here we are! I’m feeling a bit reminiscent about how this all went down, so gather ’round Gal*Gunners. It’s story time.

This Wasn’t Originally Going to Happen

When I joined Inti Creates back in September 2014, Gal*Gun Double Peace was still in development, with a summer 2015 release planned for Japan. Its predecessor, the original Gal*Gun which released on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in 2011-2012, never got a western release. So before I got my grubby hands in there, Double Peace was planned to have the same fate of a Japan-only release.

I was a huge fan of the original game, and I knew damn well that I was far from the only western gamer who enjoyed games like Gal*Gun. Turning a game that all of your superiors thought had no chance to sell overseas into one that was worth putting in all the effort required to make an international release was a tough sell, to say the least. I remember I first brought up the idea of localizing Gal*Gun Double Peace in earnest when I took my first overseas business trip with my boss. We were sitting around the airport just waiting for our plane, so I figured, now was as good a time as any to make my pitch.

It didn’t work out so well.

My boss is a super good guy, so while he was sympathetic to my desire to release the game outside of Japan, the team just didn’t have the confidence that it would sell, or even be received well at all by western gamers.

Over the next couple of months I would toss friendly reminders to the team that this was something I truly believed in, and all of that came together on August 6, 2015, which was of all days, the Japanese release date for the game.

The Tweet That Changed Gal*Gun’s Fate

the_tweet

I figured that the people who cared about this game would be following the Japanese release date, so I decided it would be a good time to test the waters to see if my firm belief that my fellow westerners really DID love games like Gal*Gun held any water.

My dear, sweet Internet. Suffice to say, you did not disappoint. This little tweet that I just sent out on a whim spread like wildfire around the Internet. By the time I came into work the next day, this tweet had become our new champion in terms of views, impressions, and just about every other measurable category.  Forums, message boards, and all kinds of websites both small and large were talking about it.

“I can’t believe Inti Creates is teasing Gal*Gun!”

“I never thought this day would come!”

“There really IS a god!”

“What the hell is wrong with these guys?”

With newfound data and concrete proof that what I’ve been saying this whole time wasn’t a bunch of malarkey, I presented this to my superiors and senpais. Discussions were had, and just a few days later, we decided that we were gonna do this! Gal*Gun: Double Peace was now officially coming to the west! Woo hoo!

We were gonna do this thing the right way, with both a physical release and a digital release for PS4 and Vita, just like we did in Japan. However, as a smallish Japanese company with no offices outside of Japan, this would be pretty much impossible to do on our own. We needed an ally; a western publisher who believed in the marketability of Gal*Gun as much as we did. That’s when we met PQube.

Locked & Loaded

The good folks at PQube had been dreaming of getting Gal*Gun into the hands of gamers outside Japan ever since the first game came out, so it was a perfect match. We had a blast working on the title together (make no mistake though, it was hard work!) For me personally, being the localization director and producer on the title at the same time has been my biggest challenge in my career to date, but all the blood, sweat and overtime was well worth it! Getting to work with all the creative minds at PQube on marketing the game outside Japan, character expressions, and of course the infamous Mr. Happiness Edition of the game are easily some of my fondest memories from the project. Let me tell ya, there were a lot of laughs in those meeting where we figuring out what to include in the Mr. Happiness Edition. Hope you guys enjoyed your “screen cleaners!” ;)

Shot Through The Heart

On August 2, 2016, Gal*Gun Double Peace was made available to fans around the world on PS4 and PS Vita, and shortly after that on Steam. The reception by you, the fans, has been nothing short of fantastic. The atmosphere surrounding the game has been incredibly positive, and fans from around the world have come out in greater numbers than we ever could have anticipated. Whether you found out about the game on your own accord, heard about it from a friend, or from the hilarious play experiences of Youtube legends like Pewdiepie and the Game Grumps, I just want to say, “THANK YOU!”

You, the Gal*Gunners around the world, have spoken. You helped me prove to everyone here at Inti once and for all that people around the world DO love Gal*Gun. It’s been an honor to work on Double Peace for you guys, and I’m looking forward to help bring Gal*Gun to the world of VR with our upcoming “Gal*Gun VR” (working title) project!

Double peace, y’all! v(^o^)v

Gunvolt 2 New Year

Seasons greetings once again, Strikers! The year 2017 is less than a week away, and considering this is our last day at the office before we break for the new year, we wanted to share a bunch of goodies with you before we head home! First up is the Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 New Year’s wallpaper above, which features Team Gunvolt (GV, Joule, Xiao, and Quinn) at a Japanese shrine participating in what is called hatsumodeHatsumode is the first Shinto shrine visit of the Japanese new year, and once the clock hits 12:00 on 1/1, all throughout the day you can find flocks of people making their visits at all hours of the day and night. Super popular shrines such as Kanda Shrine in Tokyo’s Akihabara district (made famous by the anime Love Live) or Meiji Shrine in the Harajuku area will have lines spanning multiple city blocks just to wait to get in.

While we are still getting the DLC ready for release in North America and Europe, we wanted to give Gunvolt fans outside of Japan a better taste of what’s to come! We are hoping to have the DLC available in NA and EU sometime in January, so as soon as we have an exact date for that, we’ll be sure to announce it.

Finally, for those of you who still have not had the chance to give Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 a try (or if you wanna be able to show your friends how awesome it is, hehe), starting tomorrow 12/29, a demo version of Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 will be available on the North American 3DS eShop. Update on the Azure Striker Gunvolt Anime OVA

Good day, Strikers! As things start wrapping up around here while we prepare to say goodbye to 2016, I wanted to take a minute to update you guys on where we stand on the Gunvolt anime OVA. We originally said in the trailer (which you can see below) that it would be released in Winter of 2016, however, due to various circumstances, releasing before the year ends is unfortunately not going to be able to happen.

Now, with that being said, the “Winter” part of that original release time-frame still holds true, we just unfortunately were unable to meet the “2016” part. We are going to release it as soon as we possibly can worldwide on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Considering the vast majority of things we need to do to release it are now done, it really won’t be much longer now.

Right now, we are aiming towards releasing the Gunvolt anime in North America, Europe, and Japan next month (January 2017), so we will keep doing what we can to make that happen. As soon as we have a release date(s) nailed down, we will share that information with you guys. Thanks for your understanding, and we hope you enjoy the anime when it comes out! :)

Keep on Striking,
