Part 20

“You’re the one who wanted something with ME. Isn’t that right, Rei?”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right…” Rei admitted.

He took the small package out of his bag and placed it on the table.

“Thank you so much for everything you did yesterday. Here’s a little something from my sister and I as a token of thanks.”

Himeshiro was completely taken aback; her expression was completely blank. Her reaction was such one of pure shock that it was almost as if nobody has ever thanked her for doing this sort of thing before.

“You’re an honorable guy, Rei.”

“Nah, I mean, you saved our lives. It’s the least I could do.”

“I see…yesterday was pretty tough, huh? Thank you for the gift,” Himeshiro said with a smile.

“That’s really all I had to say on the matter for that. Now, what is it you want to tell me?”

“Hahaha,” Himeshiro chuckled, “I guess I kinda let it slip, huh?”

“To say the least,” Rei shot back. “Do you have some kind of big secret to tell me or something? Dragging me to a secluded classroom kinda suggests that you do…”

“Hmph…yeah, I guess I do. Let me get right to the point.” Himeshiro’s expression suddenly became a very straight, no-nonsense one. “Raptor, The Obliterator of Innocents…you know that name, don’t you?”

“Wha…” Rei felt a chill run down his spine. How did she know that name?

“Sorry, that’s probably a name you don’t wanna hear…”

“No it’s not that…” Rei was still a bit unnerved, “More importantly, how do you know that name?”

It had been eight years since the day Rei lost his parents. At that time, everyone was talking about Raptor, The Obliterator of Innocents; he was one of the most notorious names out there. Nowadays, you hear not even a peep about him. He was never arrested, and one day, any and all traces of the killer completely vanished.

“I’ve been pursuing him. Or, maybe her, I’m not really sure…but in any case, in the past eight years, there hasn’t been even a shred of information.” Himeshiro explained.

Rei also had never seen Raptor’s appearance with his own two eyes. (S)he was an unidentifiable cutthroat. A modern day Jack the Ripper. That was who Raptor, The Obliterator of Innocents really was.

I’m pleased to announce that Mr. Tai, the writer of this here story, is currently working on the next part as we speak! If it were like a TV series, think of this as the end of the 1st season, with a 2nd season on the way! Stay tuned for updates!
